Bcc (blind carbon copy) Email and how to use

Blog Post1 Surendra Nepali

Bcc stands for “blind carbon copy” and it allows you to send an email to a recipient without other recipients being aware that they were copied. Here are the steps to using Bcc in an email:

  1. Open your email client or service and start composing a new email message.
  2. Look for the Bcc field, which is usually located below the To and Cc fields. If you don’t see the Bcc field, you may need to enable it in your email settings.
  3. Click on the Bcc field and enter the email addresses of the recipients you want to Bcc. You can separate multiple email addresses with a comma or semicolon.
  4. Add the recipients you want to send the email to in the To or Cc field, as usual.
  5. Write your email and click send.

Note that the recipients in the Bcc field will receive a copy of the email, but their email addresses will not be visible to the other recipients. This can be useful if you want to protect the privacy of the recipients, prevent a reply-all storm, or if you want to send a message to a large group of people, but you don’t want everyone to see each other’s email addresses.

However, be mindful of using Bcc too often or for inappropriate reasons, as it can be seen as sneaky or underhanded. Also, be aware that some email clients and servers may flag emails with a large number of Bcc recipients as spam, so it’s best to use Bcc sparingly and only when necessary.
